Two Weeks down, teaching in Spanish, 50 new missionaries, and a possible lama ride

It is so wonderful to hear from Mikayla.  She is so positive even though some of the experiences she is having are hard. That makes it easier to have her gone. We sure miss her but our family is blessed because of her choice to serve. Enjoy the latest letter from Hermana Parker.

The past couple days have been incredible. We have been teaching all of our lessons in spanish, so I am progressing really well with that. It is so hard but so satisfying and I really feel like a missionary when I get to teach a lesson. It really is so cool. In a lesson a couple days ago I had my first experience with the gift of tongues I feel like. I prepared very well for my lesson. My investigator had asked me a question that I had no idea how to answer in Spanish. And then all of a sudden I just answered. It wasn't my words, but the words of the spirit and I felt so cool. I was so happy about that. My Spanish gets better and better everyday.

So yesterday a big group of missionaries left for their missions! There was a district that had been here for six weeks that left, and then a huge group of latinos that left as well. So we are currently awaiting the arrival of about 50 new missionaries today! There are literally only 15 missionaries at the MTC right now it's hilarious. But in the group that had been here for 6 weeks I became super close with these two sisters. There names are Hermana Israelson and Hermana Barney. They reached out to me the first day I was here, calmed me down about everything, reassured me about EVERYTHING, and really helped me get used to everything here. If you had been praying for someone to be my little angels while I was here, it was those two girls. They are both from Utah and me and Hermana Israelson know a lot of the same people. We had soooo much in common. Me and H. Israelson played sports together and talked about home a lot. Me and Hermana Barney talked music, which I miss so much, but that made me so happy. Anyway they left yesterday and I'm pretty sad about it. But I hope that I can be what those two girls were to me, to the newbies that are coming today. I'm so excited to meet them!

I like to think that I've made it over the hump. The first two weeks are the worst, so I hear, and weeks three and four FLY by. I'm totally praying for that because the mtc sucks. But I love it at the same time. We moved rooms this morning. I'm literally the only person here who can get comfortable in these beds hahahaha. I sleep like a rock every night and no one can understand why. Also my blanket has pandas on it which I think is pretty dope hahahaha.

I play volleyball literally every day. I am getting so good. My overhand serve is killer and it freaks the other team out every time. I'm pretty upset with myself because I haven't played soccer yet and I am in freaking Colombia. I dont even know what I'm doing with my life if I'm not playing soccer in Colombia hahaha.

So the scripture I would like on my plaque is proverbs 3: 5-6. That's mine and dad's favorite scripture. I read it everyday and I  think it'll be perfect.

I haven't had to use any money yet. But in two weeks we go on a big culture tour and I'll get to buy souveniers and rumor has it I can ride a llama. Cross your fingers!

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND I AM SENDING YOU GUYS A LETTER BUT I DONT KNOW IF IT WILL GET TO YOU OR NOT. BUT I LOVE YOU I LOVE I LOVE YOU:

Love always, Hermana Parker
